Born in Quito in 1973, Daniel grew up listening to the stories of his grandfather who arrived to the Galapagos in 1957. Stories that awoke on him the imagination of this magic faraway land. Since he was 10 Daniel spent in the Galapagos all his summer school breaks until he finished high school in 1990. He has a college degree in tourism administration. In 1995 he got a Galapagos National Park Naturalist Guide certification and speaks fluent Spanish and English. Same as his father Rodrigo, Daniel has a deep sense for nature and a passion for adventure that he loves to share with others. He is also the drummer of a very successful rock & roll band in Ecuador (Tercer Mundo) with 10 albums released and several # 1 hits in the Ecuadorian charts. Now after 8 years of experience and at 30 he is part of the staff and co-owner of SunWind Travel.

To see the Galapagos with Rodrigo is a great experience, not only for his vast expertise and knowledge of the Galapagos Islands and its biodiversity, but for his kindness and patience with people and his great sense of humor and his personal attitude. Rod has the well deserved reputation of being a great host. He came to Galapagos in early 1985 and took the National Park guide's course in early 86. He has been guiding in the Galapagos ever since. He took a break in 1998 when he was offered the job as facilitator for the Management Plan for the Galapagos Marine Reserve; attached to the CDRS and the GNP until 1999 Then he was appointed by the Minister of Tourism to act as Provincial Director of Tourism for the Galapagos Islands 1999-2000. Even though he had planned to retire, the lure of the ocean and his love to teach and show visitors the wonders of Galapagos was stronger so he is back to guiding and tour leading. Apart from everything else Rod and Daniel who are a father and son team, are part owners of SunWind Travel which makes them double responsible for the well being and total enjoyment of their guests in Galapagos as well as in the rest of Ecuador.
